Todd was introduced to upland bird hunting and sporting dogs at a young age by one of his mentors, Lee Shoaf. He immediately took a liking to not just the fast-paced hunting action but also the relationship between the hunter and his dogs. No stranger to dedication and having the willingness to put in the efforts to become successful Todd started training his own hunting dogs some years later. For several years this dedication brought Todd all over the country participating in competitions that won him and his dogs quite a few trophies and ribbons.
Although once again Todd found that his love for his sporting dogs and upland hunting was being infringed upon by his location in the Chicagoland area. Hunting grounds were becoming scarcer as urban sprawl expanded westward and some of Todd’s favorite hunting clubs were being driven out of business by this expansion. Once again Todd sensed an excellent business opportunity and in 2003 he purchased a piece of land in Boone County, Illinois and began the Coon Creek Hunt Club.
Now in its fifth full year of operation Coon Creek’s nearly 300 acres of impeccable hunting cover serve as home to an abundant wildlife population and hunting grounds for many other suburban residents who are as passionate about dogs and hunting as Todd is. Coon Creek Hunt Club now hosts several group shooting events throughout the season that include sporting clays, archery, and traditional European Shoots.
